Obviously Canada Post does! Today they're releasing not one, but TWO special stamps featuring the happy couple. One version is for domestic mail. The other, more expensive one is for international letters. Both Queen Elizabeth, and Prince William approved the Canadian-made designs. I hope that Kate got to see them too!
I am so happy that Canada, as a proud member of the Commonwealth, decided to produce these stamps. To the happy couple!
Gaming is not a past time that I indulge in BUT I have made a few exceptions.
With the hype surrounding Angry Birds, I downloaded it to my phone, and gave it a go. Unlike most purchasers, I haven't been compelled to play it over, and over again. It's addictive nature has passed me by. I'm not feeling the love for this furious flock. Sorry! But before I set my iPhone down with the vow never to get wingy with it, I came across Tiny Wings.
Simple to play with endearing graphics, Tiny Wings grabbed my heart where Angry Birds failed. The little fella just wants to soar through the sky, touch the clouds, and explore faraway lands. There's no nasty agenda, no complicated strategy... just the desire to be free as a bird, so to speak. Playing this game is so easy. You can use one finger - that's it! Just be sure to use the downward slopes of the hills to project Tiny Wings way up into the deep blue yonder. The key is to get as far as you can, hopping island after island before the sun sets. The arrival of evening tells Tiny Wings that it's time for bed. Any further adventures will have to be played out in his dreams.
It's not surprising that Tiny Wings was one of the few phone games to push Angry Birds off the iTunes' #1 seller spot. It's that fun, and addictive! A definite smart phone must-buy. The best $0.99 I spent - I've been sending Tiny Wings airborne for weeks now.
This funny print from Rockett St. George serves up a little Cockney rhyming slang in alphabet form. Of course, true Cockneys won't recognize much of what's on offer here... but the intent is good natured, and very silly!
It's my birthday week, so Friday's music video choice is my all-time favourite. Okay, it's cheesy - I'm the first to admit that fact - but I ADORE this song... yep, it's my #1 Duran Duran tune.
The video is one of the first Duran Duran ever shot. Way before the slick gloss of 'Rio', and 'Hungry Like the Wolf,' there was 'Careless Memories.' At this time, Duran were still firmly entrenched in the whole new romantic music scene that was going down a storm in the UK... the clothes, make-up - all so mad! What's not to love? And Simon Le Bon looks so fetching with the black eyeliner.
This video from YouTube was originally taken from the VHS video release put out around 1983. 'Careless Memories' is inner-cut with clips from the 'Lonely in Your Nightmare' video that came out with the 'Rio' album... hence Simon's more modern look popping in and out during the first :20 or so of 'Careless Memories.' Enjoy.
Inviting friends, and family over for an Easter dinner? Imagine the looks on their faces when you roll up to the dinner table with this set of salad servers!
Hop to it! Easter's only days away... these babies from Perpetual Kid won't last long. Happy Easter!
It's about time the Cadbury Easter Creme Egg rabbit had some serious candy competition.
Sweet Tarts, those tangy, bitter yet delish candies are ramping up the holiday confectionary competition with their new Easter collection. They've got bunnies, chicks and ducks - oh my!
We've only been privy to the boring round Sweet Tarts in our neck of the woods. I have no clue if this Easter parade of seasonable characters will flock up north here to Canada but... fear not, you can order your own Sweet Tarts online from Candy Warehouse.
I've been working on an article about Corgis for a client, and in my travels came across this adorable video.
It's true! Good things DO come in small packages -- and I'm not talking about the iPad!
I'm sure that I am not the only one hoping that the Queen's Corgis make an appearance next week during all the royal wedding hoopla. They're part of the family, after all!
For more Corgi capers, check out this other clip here.
I love this product for its hilarity factor... sausage links, as a dog leash? Why not!
Now, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be caught dead walking down the street with Zoey attached to this contraption - but I would LOVE to see someone else.. someone much braver than I, strutting around the city with pup in tow.
Available now from Fred Flare. Buy it if you dare!
With my adoration of all things London, it's barely surprising how much I regard one of its finest pop bands, Saint Etienne.
The group is famous for its affinity for the city. Just listen to 'London Belongs to Me' and you'll catch my drift!
To celebrate more London fabulousness, here's a video from an album or two back. The track is called 'Action' and we certainly get our fair share from this video. Nice to see lead singer, Sarah Cracknell going walkabout too!
Kiss goodbye to boring computer accessories! Batman has saved the day (yet again!).
Comic geek chic rules with this set of too cool for school USB flash drives. The Joker, Batman...what's not to like?
Not only will these 2 GB gizmos save important docs for you, but in return they'll offer up lots of Batman-inspired goodness including avatars, wallpapers and more. Best of all, these drives are compatible with PC and Mac.
It's hard to contain my enthusiasm! Soon I will be returning to one of my favourite destinations on the planet: London, England.
From my backyard, it's more than 6,000 miles away but despite the distance, the jet lag, and oft-rainy weather, I've always felt at home there. With trips in the double digits, it's easy to say that my money could have been put to better use had I stayed put. But seriously....wouldn't you rather have suitcases stuffed full of memories, photos and stories than a bank full of unused cash? Yeah, me too!
To celebrate my infinite love for this city, I'm serving up several London-centric posts.
First up, I'd like to share a website that caters to lovers of London, history buffs, and curiosity seekers alike. Faded London is a glorious find that explores all the wonderful hints of a by-gone era: ghost signs, unique street 'furniture' and even shop facades. London is so rich in history that every block boasts secrets from another time - even the metal coal grates on the ground have a tale to tell.
While all these artifacts aren't exclusive to London -- most big cities have ghost signs adorning the outer walls of old buildings -- they do speak of the city's past in a manner that is pretty much forgotten these days. London may still proudly display a multitude of old streets, signs, buildings and attractions, but progress has removed and erased just as many. The Faded London website is a celebration of where London's been and where it's going.
NeNe, Bethenny, Camille? So many bitches, so little time!
'The Real Housewives' franchise never disappoints. The drama, catfights, ridiculous feuds! With the latest bitch-a-rama, 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' pushing its way onto Canadian TV screens last night, it's perfectly reasonable to give a shout out to the Top 10 Favourite Real Housewives of All-Time.
Sick of Rebecca Black's annoying ear-worm, "Friday"? Before you vow to never, ever fall victim to that terrible song ever again, take a moment to check out this funny segment from last Friday's 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.'
Jimmy challenged Stephen Colbert to come on 'Late Night' & perform "Friday" IF he was able to raise $26,000 for DonorsChoose.org. Jimmy's faithful viewers came through, and ta da! -- Colbert does "Friday."
Money well spent! A good cause benefits, and we get some late night laughs. Enjoy!
